Sarah Freeman Art

I am so blown away by my friend Sarah Freeman. She is an amazing artist who is well-versed and talented in a variety of mediums. (She also has the coolest signature ever).
It is her still-life oil paintings that I am currently captivated by. Beauty and simplicity.

Sarah has a gallery opening this Saturday (tomorrow) in Culver City at the Maxwell Alexander Gallery on Washington Blvd. The show is entitled Still, Life and Land. And it's even more exciting because Sarah is flying in from Santa Fe for the show! So happy for her...

el matador

I am in love with my book - Peaceful Places: Los Angeles. So many excellent gems to escape to all in the city limits. Sometimes living/driving in such a populated city can be a little headachey, but this book is full of places to find relaxation and solitude.

 - el matador beach -

For someone who lives so close to the ocean, the beach is not really my thing. The overcrowding and paying $6-$8 to park usually keep me away... Even if I do make it down, by the time I get settled in the cold and foggy marine layer is as well. I will say that El Matador in Malibu was a welcome departure from the typical beaches of Santa Monica bay. Still $8 to park, but there are many rock formations and small caves covered in barnacles to explore, it is well worth the fee.

Mammillaria elongata 'Goldilocks' cactus, found snail shell, white rock and Tahitian moon black sand.

Wolf moss, white reindeer moss, dried pine, white rock, and a mini pagoda. This one is still a work in progress. I am thinking of adding some steps and maybe some Irish moss.

Working on a few more, so stay tuned.

Earth Art

What a beautiful place. So many thing go unnoticed until we take a break to look. Here is a brief selection of some of my favorite earth art pieces.

sacks

My very creative friends, Meghan and Alex are in town and we spent yesterday together making crafts. Check out our awesome handmade stuff sacks. Mine is perfect to hold my markers and colored pencils. Now that I have the pattern settled I can start production on more. My stuffed animal designs were also just featured on a quilting blog. See them HERE!

I recently signed up with spoonflower.com! I love this site so much, it is the best place I have seen to shop for fabric on the web. And you can upload, print and sell your own designs. Have a look at my first group. Many many more to come. I am obsessed now. I post the projects created with the fabrics as well. If you would like to purchase yardage of any of these lovelies head over to my spoonflower profile. Enjoy!

Hufflepuff

The last Harry Potter movie is coming out next month. It's wild to think I really did grow up with Harry. I have spent so many nights dreaming about Hogwarts. I would undoubtedly be a Hufflepuff, and be extremely proud of it.

I just discovered this adorable site plumo.com. It is full of eclectic items for the house and simple but unique clothing... just my style. Below are a few of my most coveted items.

Although I am taking a break from shopping since I recently purchased the iPad 2, (and paid extra for the super soft and gorgeous tan leather smart cover) so for now I can only admire...
